FIVE FACTS FROM THE SOURCE (Embedded):
EX: The article cites Maria Nikolajeva, a professor of at Cambridge, as saying that Bella does not "in any way promote independent thinking or personal development" in women, instead portraying a woman "meek and willing to do anything for her vampire boyfriend" (POV).
Studies have been done to show that "the practice of martial arts leads to positive psychosocial changes in the participants"(Binder).
Binder states that after looking through information and data he finds that "Martial arts practice cultivates decreases in hostility (Daniels and Thornton, 1992), anger (Brown et al., 1995), and feeling vulnerable to attack"(Binder).
Not only has Martial Arts has proof od reducing violence but has can also "lead to more easygoing and warmhearted individuals (Pyecha, 1970) and increases in self-confidence (Spear, 1989), self-esteem (Finkenberg, 1990; Brown et al., 1995), and self-control (Brown et al., 1995)"(Binder).
It is also said that "benefits from martial arts training are different from other activities" and "Hapkido training for military trainees was more effective at improving individual self-confidence and group morale than other forms of training including fitness training, resistance training, and obstacle course training"(Binder).
Martials arts has to more to offer than pther activities for "martial arts training produces positive psychosocial changes that are greater in magnitude and diversity than those produced by many other physical activities"(Binder).

Summary of Source (Three-Four Sentences of the Who, What, Where, Why, and How in your own words. NO OPINION):

Binder brings together different research and information to show how martial arts has a positive impact on people. It is proven to have lessen violence and hostility in people and instilling confidence and self esteem into its students. People who have participated in martial arts longer have more of a sense of stability compared to others who don't do it or others who have barely started. Compared to other sports and activities, martial arts has more to offer and is more effective.

Credibility of Source:
Author or Site: Who is the author? What training have they had? If there is no author, examine the site. What is the purpose of the site? Who funds the site?

The Author is Brad Binder and he has his Ph.D and is reviewing Literature.

Attachment: Does the author or site have anything to gain from writing this, or is it simply informative? For example, is it a cigarette business posting an article about the benefit of cigarettes, or is it a scientific community unaffiliated with the cigarette business?

The author has written to help find psychological problems.

Bias: Do you detect a bias (a favoring of either side) in the author's writing?

There is a slight bias to the positive effects of martial arts because the author hardly mentions any negatives.

References: Does the author cite references in the writing? If so, do these add or take away from the credibility?

The author uses many different references that also talk about martial arts and their effects.

Use of Source: How will you use this source in your project?

I plan on using this source to help me prove my point that martial arts teaches discipline and not violence. It helps prove my point that martial arts lessens hostility and promotes self control and confidence.
